Nike Fitted Hat Size Chart: Head Size in CM and Inches
By Fitness Hats Editorial Team · Published
The short answer
Nike publishes one hat chart that converts head circumference to a numeric hat size, from 6 1/2 to 8. Measure your head, find the row, and read the hat size. Nike's chart also lists letter labels (XS to XL) and style groups such as Swoosh Flex, Adjustable and Dual Size. This page copies the numbers as published and says where the chart stops.
For your own number, use the hat size chart and calculator or the printable head measuring tape.
Nike hat size chart: head size to hat size
The chart below is from the Nike KSA page Check Hats Size Chart. Nike publishes it in both centimeters and inches, and the page notes that the measurements are body measurements. Values are copied as published, with no rounding or conversion. The page shows no update date, so check the live page before ordering.
| Head size (cm) | Head size (in.) | Nike hat size | |---|---|---| | 52 | 20 1/2 | 6 1/2 | | 53 | 20 7/8 | 6 5/8 | | 54 | 21 1/8 | 6 3/4 | | 55 | 21 1/2 | 6 7/8 | | 56 | 21 7/8 | 7 | | 57 | 22 1/4 | 7 1/8 | | 58 | 22 5/8 | 7 1/4 | | 59 | 23 | 7 3/8 | | 60 | 23 1/2 | 7 1/2 | | 61 | 23 7/8 | 7 5/8 | | 62 | 24 1/4 | 7 3/4 | | 63 | 24 5/8 | 7 7/8 | | 64 | 25+ | 8 |

The rows pair up in the order the page lists them. As a cross-check, the Nike Slovakia guide gives a worked example: a head of 56 centimetres is a hat size 7, also called small to medium (Nike SK, How to measure your hat size). That matches the 56 row above.
How Nike says to measure
The two Nike pages give slightly different placement advice, so read both.
- Nike SK says to wrap the tape around the forehead about 2.5cm above the eyebrows. The tape should run slightly above the ears and just below the small knot at the back of the skull. A piece of string works the same way, then measure the string against a ruler and record centimetres (Nike SK).
- Nike KSA says to wrap the tape at the point where the hat will sit, approximately 2cm above the eyebrows (Nike KSA).
Both describe a level tape across the forehead. The Nike SK guide shows a last-updated date of 11 April 2024 and an original publication date of 28 July 2023 (Nike SK, How to measure your hat size).
What "one size" means on Nike hats
Some Nike hats, such as beanies and several cap styles, are made in one size. Nike SK says one-size hats generally fit head measurements from 54 centimetres to 61 centimetres. It adds that beanies tend to stretch, and that adjustable bands, including buckle closures and snapbacks, allow a customisable fit on some styles (Nike SK).
In the Nike KSA table, 54 centimetres sits at hat size 6 3/4 and 61 centimetres at 7 5/8 (Nike KSA). That is a lookup against the chart, not a figure Nike states for any one hat.
Letter labels and style groups
The Nike KSA page also lists letter sizes and style groups: alpha sizes XS, S, M, L and XL, plus Swoosh Flex, Adjustable Unisex, Adjustable Women's, Dual Size Unisex and Dual Size Women's. The Dual Size Unisex labels are XS/S, S/M, M/L, L/XL and XL/XXL. The Dual Size Women's labels are S/M, M/L and L/XL. OS stands for One Size (Nike KSA).
The page text does not show which letter label lines up with which centimetre value. Read that grid on the live page, or on the product page, before relying on a label.
Between two sizes
Nike KSA says that on the borderline between two sizes, order the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit (Nike KSA). The chart does not say which suits a given head or activity, so that choice is yours.
Retailer pages that republish Nike charts
Some retailers publish their own Nike hat guides. One describes Nike fitted golf hats as stretch-to-fit, sold in labels from X-Small/Small to Large/X-Large, with all measurements in inches (Golf Locker, Nike Fitted Golf Hat Sizing Guide). Another lists S/M, M/L, L/XL and one-size labels in inches and centimetres (La Liga Soccer, Size Guide - Nike Hats and Caps). These are retailer pages, not Nike's own, so their numbers are not copied here. Label ranges can overlap between styles, so check the chart that goes with the exact hat.
What to check before ordering
- Measure your head and write the number in centimetres or inches. The Nike KSA table above lists both units, so no conversion is needed.
- Find that number in the Nike table above, then read the product page for the hat's own label (numeric, letter, dual size or one size).
- If the hat is one size or adjustable, check the product page for the closure type. Nike's pages do not say how far an adjustable closure opens.
- If you are between sizes, decide whether you want a tighter or looser fit and pick the smaller or larger size as Nike describes.
What the sources do not say
Nike's pages do not say how any specific hat feels, how much a stretch fabric gives, or how Nike sizes compare with other brands. This site has not measured Nike hats. For other brands, see the general hat size chart or the New Era chart, which uses its own sizes.
