Spread is computed: the largest published head size for that label minus the smallest, in cm. Pacific Headwear: Pacific's chart steps 3/8 in between most sizes, but lists 7 5/8 as 23 3/4 in and 7 3/4 as 24 1/2 in, so its inch and cm columns disagree there; we compare in cm and leave it out of the calculator. The label is not the inside of the hat
A fitted chart tells you the head a label is cut for. It does not tell you how big a particular hat is inside, and the two can differ. New Era's own chart says so: “Keep in mind that the CM size on labels may not match Head Circumference (cm).” (source)

What size is a 7 1/4 fitted hat in cm?
By the US convention (head diameter in inches), 7 1/4 is a 22.78 in or 57.9 cm head. What stretch-fit size is a 7 3/8?
New Era's 59FIFTY fitted chart makes a 7 3/8 for a 58.7 cm head. On the stretch-fit charts we checked, that head falls in: Flexfit Standard stretch-fit, OSFA or L/XL; Flexfit DELTA (stretch-fit), L/XL; Flexfit 210 (stretch-fit), L/XL; New Era 39THIRTY stretch-fit, S/M or M/L; Nike Swoosh Flex (stretch-fit), M/L. Stretch-fit sizes cover a range, so check the brand's range against your measured head.
Should I size up or down in a fitted hat?
Where the brand says, follow it. New Era: "If you're between sizes, we recommend rounding up." Richardson: "If uncertain about the size or in between sizes, opt for the larger size to ensure a comfortable fit." A fitted cap can be taken in with reducer tape behind the sweatband, but it cannot be let out.
